The G-woman did it

I know that there were several of you who were interested in the case of the vacationing FBI agent who was robbed by a couple of out-of-state thugs.  Well, there is finally something that some folks will call resolution.

The Greenville News stayed on top of this story to report what really happened.  As we suspected, it was in fact the FBI agent, Ira Liwag, who popped the thug in the middle of Greenville’s nicest business district.  When she was robbed along Main Street, she fired on what was initially reported as fleeing suspects.

Left unanswered in the story:

  • How two out-of-stater bandits picked this particular place and robbery victim
  • What moved the agent to pack her gun for  trip to the Peace Center (maybe agents always carry…even on vacation…)
  • What the investigation revealed about Liwag’s use of force

If anything else pops—news, the agent’s gun…again—I’ll be sure to follow up.  In the meantime, try not to rob any Feds by accident.

I don’t know…it all seems so odd. Why would an FBI agent have a gun with her on vacation?

Not to mention that she shot the guy from behind? I thought, from my extensive learning, that an agent is only suppose to use deadly force when a life is in danger. Someone driving away hardly seems like a danger.
