Friday in Mt. Pleasant

For the first time in many years, I am back in a courtroom. At one time I covered killers and other scoundrals. Today, I am watching the trial of five men accused of violating South Carolina’s gambling statute.

The charge is a misdemeanor. If convicted, the guys will more than likely pay a small fine. If you hadn’t gathered by my presence in the Lowcountry, this trial is about much more than a misdemeanor. Though I don’t feel like typing it all on my iPhone’s screen, this is a case that has one of poker’s bigger names as an expert witness and more than a couple Perry Mason moments.

I miss being in a courtroom. After years of doing this on TV, it feels really good to be back in my current capacity as a…whatever I am.

I have to get back inside.

Happy weekend, all.

OK, there is no meanazz news director pushing your buttons but where is the news?

You may not be a newsy any more but you have the teaser down better than TV news does around here. (And they are annoying good at teasers.)

    Ken,

Wasn’t my intention to tease. Long story short…judge declared poker a game of skill, but didn’t rule on guilt or innocence. That will happen this coming week. I was there writing for a magazine, so my article won’t be out for a bit.

You probably aren’t much for the social networking, but I did update everything on my Twitter feed. You can find that…

    Hi Otis-

It’s not like you to have such a blatant typo. Feeling OK?
