November minutiae

Just one more month to go before I can discontinue this obligatory monthly update on the mundanities of my life. Here, because I have more to type than fingers to write it, is the briefest of updates.

Books read: The Corrections; Tokyo Vice; The Financial Lives of the Poets
Travel days: 15
Poker: Not a stich online, and a mere 13 hours of it live, most during one late-night session in Las Vegas. I posted a modest profit for the month (the first in a while).
Exercise: Unlike the truly disciplined folks, I let 15 travel days get in the way of my regular workouts. I did manage to rally and put in around 12 miles at the track since I got home from LA. My wife, friends, and I are running a 5k this weekend for my birthday (well, I’m doing it for my birthday, and they are likely doing it for their own reasons).
Freelance goals: I’ve had a number of really good conversations this month that makes me think a few things may be moving after a long period of stagnation.
Best meal: On Absinthe‘s recommendation, I made a Thomas Keller recipe for roasted chicken with root vegetables. Not only the best meal of the month, but among the best for the year.
Photo of the month: Our new dog in the leaves of our sweetgum tree.
